Rota – re – cycle
This is a new long-term project aimed at recycling products that can’t yet go into the standard recycling bins.
Collection of ‘soft plastics’ :
Soft plastics are compressed using a device from a company called Wholly Shrink (image below), and transferred to Woolworths Stores in Melbourne which now accept soft plastics for further processing

Individual club members have been buying Wholly shrinks for their personal use.
Collection of medical blister packs :
Tubs of packs transferred to the Community Library for processing. Some local pharmacies now accept used ‘blister pack’ for recycling
Collection of “10 cent drink containers :
Cans and bottles covered under this program are returned to recycling centres where Rotary Traralgon is a registered charity – refunds are returned to the Club;
Collection of used coffee pods :
The Club is a registered recycler with Nespresso;
Used pods are returned to Nespresso for processing;
Collection of bread bag tags (plastic) :
A new area for us, but it all adds to the growing list of recycled products that would otherwise go to waste.
Increasing our education:
The Club has established a working relationship with Latrobe City Council and has begun a program of Guest Speakers – our first guest speaker was MSarah Winkler, author of the book ‘Recycling for Dummies’
